Today I was searching for an image of the subway station Westfriedhof in Munich. As I browsed my database I found the following image of Panotwin Markus shooting the Munich subway station Westfriedhof with a double monopod setup.
Recently we had equinox and as we are living on the northern hemisphere it was spring equinox. Traditionally this is the time when we go out and shoot a panorama for the World Wide Panorama (WWP). An event where we regularly contribute since 2005. The theme of the event was “paths”. Thinking about “paths” I finally thought of educational trails (Lehrpfad in German literally translates to educational path) which are very common in Germany. I did a search on educational trails in Frankfurt and found an educational trail of the faculty of geosciences/geography at the University of Frankfurt/M.
As I followed the trail I did several sphericals. The one I finally chose for the event shows a lovely spot near the old village center of Niederursel a district of Frankfurt/M.
I used this tripod construction – a monopod mounted on a tripod – to shoot the WWP- Paths event. You can see the finished panorama on the WWP homepage.
The upcoming event at the WWP is named “history”. As I’m a regular contributor I also wanted to contribute for this event.
After a discussion with a friend of mine I decided to realize an idea which took shape in my mind quite some time ago. I wanted to integrate a picture which shows a historic point in time in a panorama which shows the actual scenery.
We participated in the WWP611 event (family). This is Jürgen’s panorama. This is Markus’ panorama. Each of these two is showing 14 PanoTwins. Both panoramas were shot simultaneously. We also shot a “Making of” timelapse video which you can see here: .
For the WWP event ‘color’ Markus and I decided to take some pictures of subway stations in Munich. We finally ended shooting our images at the subway station Candidplatz and at the subway station Westfriedhof which are both extremely colorful stations. This is the panorama of the subway station Candidplatz.
