This year we started with a photographic experiment. We recruited two assistants and used some sparklers to write 2012 in the air.
With this image we wish you happiness, luck and health for 2012. And of course a lot of new panoramic images 🙂
This is the blog of the PanoTwins
Articles related to the Sony α 900 camera. Mostly panoramas taken with the camera and usually a ‘shaved’ version of the Sigma 10mm/f2.8 fisheye lens. ‘Shaved’ in this context means that I removed the metal sunshades of the lens with a saw. Now I have a 180° fisheye along the longer side of the sensor.

The upcoming event at the WWP is named “history”. As I’m a regular contributor I also wanted to contribute for this event.
After a discussion with a friend of mine I decided to realize an idea which took shape in my mind quite some time ago. I wanted to integrate a picture which shows a historic point in time in a panorama which shows the actual scenery.
Here is the panorama of the actual scenery.

And this is the historic image I wanted to integrate.
The combined panorama is hosted at the history event of the the world wide panorama.
Show on mapI recently visited the Heini Klopfer ski jump near Oberstdorf. The Heini Klopfer ski jump is currently the third largest ski jump in the world. It’s hillsize is 213 m and the jump record is at 225,5 m.
The panorama was taken with a pole which is approx. 3.15 meters high (~10 feet).

Show on mapThe german word Breitachklamm translates to “canyon of Breitach”. “Breitach” is the name of the river, which cut this canyon into the rocks. The canyon is located near Oberstdorf in southern Germany.
It’s a fascinating hike through the canyon which also leads over this bridge deep down in the canyon.

This image shows a reprojected image of the summer stage in Kronberg. The projection is transverse mercator.
Show on mapI used a monopod extended to about 1,5 m (5 ft). I tried to take the images from the center of the stage in order to get a symmetrical image for the reprojection.

Show on mapThis panorama shows one of the tables at the gala dinner of the Interational Panoramic Photography Festival in Palmela. The location is the Castle of Palmela. The image was taken with a little tripod on the table. It should be an easy task to spot both of the Panotwins 😉
